So, I'm pretty sure that Lainey's going to be a lawyer when she grows up. Or at least I think she's going to have some of the skill set necessary for being a lawyer. The other day she said, "Mom, that book I was reading had a frog in it and he was fat. You know, like you're fat." Ouch! Now there was absolutely no malice or ill will in her words, she just calls them as she sees them. I said, "Lainey, that's not nice to say that you think Mama is fat. Do you think I'm fat?" She paused and said, "Ahm, I think that I love you." Oh she makes me laugh. It's as though she's thinking, "Okay, how to get out of this one? Tell her I love her and she'll think I'm so cute, she'll forget about the fat comment." We talked about being careful about what we say so as not hurt others' feelings and she came to me later with much sincerity and a little sadness in her voice and said, "Mama, I'm sorry I said you were fat." All was forgiven. Besides I'm not fat, I'm big-boned . . .and I just had my third baby a few months ago. So there.
